ST. PAUL, Minn. — Halfbacks Ben Wartman and Colin Tobin combined for 328 rushing yards and six touchdowns to lead No. 17-ranked St. Thomas (3-0 overall, 2-0 MIAC) to a 63-10 win over Hamline (1-2, 0-2) in MIAC football play Saturday on the Pipers' field.

St. Thomas rolled up 599 offensive yards and had no turnovers as it won for the seventh time in a row on the Pipers' campus. Coach Glenn Caruso's Tommies have won their last five games by a combined 221-50 margin.

The nine touchdowns and 63 points tied a modern UST single-game record last achieved 20 seasons ago against Augsburg. (St. Thomas scored 93 points in 1913 against St. John's Prep.)

Senior PK Brady Beeson was 9-for-9 on PAT kicks to tie a Tommie school record set by Jim Libera (9-for-9) in that 1989 win at Augsburg.

The Tommies raced to a 35-0 halftime lead and led 49-0 before the Pipers scored 10 fourth-quarter points.

Wartman surpassed 100 rushing yards for the 10th time in his last 11 games. He ran 21 times for 155 yards, including TDs of one, six, three and 48 yards. Wartman caught three passes for 40 yards to close with 195 yards of offense.

Tobin rushed 16 times for 173 yards with TD runs of 45 and one yard.

UST rushers have surpassed 100 yards 13 times in the last 11 games. 

Fritz Waldvogel had eight catches for 139 yards, including touchdown receptions of 22 and 24 yards. Greg Morse completed 14-of-21 passes for 214 yards and two TDs. Dakota Tracy ran for an eight-yard TD and also completd 2-of-4 aerials. St. Thomas converted 9-of-12 on third and fourth downs.

The Tommie defense allowed just 40 rushing yards on 29 carries and 257 yards of offense. Bryan Villar intercepted a pass in the end zone; Tyler Erstad recovered a late fumble; and Danny Kane and Kyle Reynertson each had a sack.

Hamline QB Adam Meyer completed 23-of-38 passes for 202 yards, including a five-yard TD to John Yates III. Tim Queck caught eight passes for 99 yards. Alex House returned 11 kicks or punts for 220 yards. Derek Johnson hkicked a 35-yard field goal for Hamline.

Next Saturday, St. Thomas is home to face Gustavus, while Hamline plays at Augsburg.
