NORTHFIELD, Minn. - A late interception returned 50 yards by Ethan Anderson (Jr., Mapleton, Minn.) was the turning point in Saturday's game against St. Olaf.

The Royal got off to an early lead against the Ole's scoring on their first drive of the game, only taking three minutes off of the clock. The scoring drive culminated on a 30 yard reception from junior quarterback Josh Aakre(Dawson, Minn.) to freshman Grant Mitchell (Lakeville, Minn.). After the first six plays of the first quarter neither team found the endzone again until the Ole's were able to capitalize on a 45 yard punt return by Leon Clark that put them in position to score early in the second quarter.

St. Olaf was able to add a field goal before half time which put them up 10-7 going into the break. After the half neither team scored in the third quarter, but that quickly changed when Anderson intercepted Olaf's Dan Dobson and returned the ball to the endzone to set the score at 13-10 after a blocked point after attempt.

With eight minutes to go the Ole's fought back down the field to score on a 26 yard pass completion from Dobson to Keith Nederhoed. The Royals then marched down the field a final time to score their third touchdown of the day on a 6 yard Aakre rush. Junior Matt Wetherell (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) had his second consecutive point after attempt blocked to set the final score at 19-17 bringing the Royals record to 4-0.

Next week the Royals will be back at Armstrong Stadium to host the 3-2 Johnnies from Collegeville. St. John's comes into the match-up being ranked 25th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll.
