Derrick Karazsia rushed for a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown and Michael Engle tossed three touchdown passes as DePauw improved to 9-0 for the first time in school history with a 30-20  Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Austin.

The 22nd-ranked Tigers finished with a 6-0 SCAC record for the fourth SCAC title in 13 seasons of competition and the first outright title. Austin dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. For DePauw's 30 seniors, the win lifted their four-year record to 32-7 which set a school record for the most wins by a class. DePauw's nine wins has matched the school record set in both 1981 and 1996. 

The Tigers close out the regular season next Saturday in the annual Monon Bell Game at Wabash. The teams meet for the 117th time with Wabash holding a 54-53-9 lead. In games played for the Monon Bell, which entered the series in 1932, DePauw leads 37-35-6. The game will be televised live by HDNet with kickoff scheduled for 1:07 p.m.

Eric Malm put DePauw on the board with a 29-yard field goal with 4:53 left in the first which came less than six minutes after his 35-yard try hit the right upright.

Austin responded with a 7-play, 68-yard drive capped by Travis Zambiasi's 26-yard run with 2:09 remaining in the quarter. The Tigers regained the lead with 8:33 left in the second when Nathan Evans hauled in a 5-yard scoring pass from Engle. 

The Kangaroos came right back with a 13-play drive which ended in Mitch Anderson's 21-yard field goal and tied the score at 10-10 with 3:39 left. Karazsia's 6-yard touchdown run with just 1:09 left in the half gave the Tigers a 16-10 edge. 

After a three-and-out by the DePauw defense, Engle was picked off with 22 seconds left, but Anderson missed a 39-yard field goal try on the last play of the half.

Anderson booted a 20-yard field goal with 8:37 left in the third to close DePauw's lead to 16-13, but Alex Koors hauled in a 9-yard pass from Engle with 2:53 remaining in the third to push the Tigers' lead to 23-13. That catch was Koors' 41st career touchdown reception which tied the DePauw and SCAC mark held by Dan Ryan (1999-2002).

Austin drove to the DePauw 7 late in the third, but the Tigers' defense forced the Kanagaroos into a 39-yard field goal attempt which sailed wide left.

DePauw took advantage with a 9-play, 78-yard drive capped by Engle's 9-yard pass to Brayden Dahlstrom with 10:13 left.

Braydon MaQuar returned the ensuing kickoff to the DePauw 38 and a personal foul moved the ball to the 23. Four plays later, Brogan Funderburg scored on a 4-yard run to close the gap to 30-20 with 8:47 remaining.

The Tigers then took 6:19 off the clock before punting and pinning the Kangaroos deep in their own territory.

DePauw outgained Austin 454-284 as the Tigers held their third straight opponent to fewer than 300 yards. The Tigers, meanwhile, rushed for a season-high 151 yards. The Tigers ran 25 more plays than the Kangaroos and possessed the ball for 37:32.

Karazsia rushed for 133 yards on 25 carries for the third 100-yard rushing game of his career. Engle completed 26-of-40 passes for 303 yards with three scores and one interception. Koors hauled in eight for 117 yards for the 16th 100-yard receiving game of his career. Dahlstrom added seven grabs for 80 yards.

Funderburg rushed for 64 yards on 12 carries as the Kangaroos totaled 150 on the ground. Zambiasi and Blake Towery combined to complete 13 of 25 passes for 134 yards.
