again, this time with one of the top 10 receiving performances in

Over the last two months it seems as if Denison junior wide receiver DuShawn Brown has been playing a game of can you top this with himself. He began his trek up the statistical leaderboards with an impressive 11-catch, 225-yard performance in Denison's 34-31 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Sept. 27. He broke the school's single-game receiving record one month later by posting 13 catches for 272 yards and three TDs in Denison's 38-24 win over Wooster.
Last week, he posted what hindsight is a rather pedestrian eight-catch, 131-yard showing in a rout of Oberlin. If all of that was just the appetizer, today's showing against Allegheny had to be main course.
Brown entered today's game needing 153 yards to break Ben Fortkamp's Denison single-season receiving record of 1,086 yards set in 1997. Brown broke Fortkamp's record early in the second quarter and he had eight receptions for 200 yards and two touchdowns at halftime. Five minutes into the third quarter he was approaching the 300-yard plateau, and the NCAA record books were being frantically searched by the Denison sports information staff in the press box.
Lewis Howes holds the Division III record for most receiving yards in a game, with 418 for Principia vs. Martin Luther in 2002.
Early in the fourth quarter he broke the North Coast Athletic Conference record for receiving yards in a game, surpassing Wittenberg's Josh McKee who totaled 318 yards against Washington University in 2010.

Brown left the game early in fourth quarter with 15 receptions for 339 yards and four touchdowns. He scored on passes of 24, 79, 55 and 4 yards. He had four receptions that went for more than 40 yards and he also added two rushes for 31 yards.
His 339 receiving yards is the eighth-best day in NCAA Division III history in terms of yardage. His day also marks the only 300-yard receiving game by a Division III player this season.
With 1,272 yards and 79 receptions Brown heads into next week's regular season finale at Kenyon looking for some tasty dessert after a five-course meal of a season.
