SALISBURY, MD. – The William Paterson football team (1-5, 0-5 NJAC) fell at No. 23 Salisbury (4-1, 4-0 NJAC), 62-33, Oct. 17.

The Sea Gulls got onto the scoreboard thanks to a 40-yard Ryan Jones run 5:29 into the contest, but senior running back Dwaine Dabney (Summit, N.J./Summit) answered with an 88-yard carry of his own just 74 seconds later. Freshman Nick DeAngelis (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) kicked the extra point and the game was tied at 7-7.

Senior Jerome Johnson pushed Salisbury back ahead with his 10-yard rushing touchdown (14-7, 1:28, first quarter), then added a 36-yard TD for a 21-7 margin 1:03 into the second period.

Junior Connor Canonico's 29-yard carry extended the Sea Gulls' lead to 28-7 with 9:38 left in the first half, but Dabney ripped off a 93-yard run for his second touchdown of the day and a 28-14 contest with 3:41 on the clock.

Jones crossed the goal line from seven yards out but the PAT attempt failed, making it a 34-14 score 2:50 before halftime.

Senior running back Darius Kersey (Dover, N.J./Dover) had the Pioneers' third big scoring play of the day, a 74-yard rush, but DeAngelis couldn't convert the point-after attempt, leaving it a 34-20 score with 1:47 left.

Jones threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to senior Isaiah Taylor with 37 seconds remaining in the half, allowing Salisbury to enter the locker room with a 41-20 edge.

The Sea Gulls scored on their first possession of the second half, using a two-yard Canonico rush for a 48-20 lead with 10:30 on the clock, then added a 12-yard Dandre Dennis scoring play at the 1:26 mark of the third quarter (55-20).

Senior quarterback Anthony DiMarsico (Stony Point, N.Y./Suffern) and junior running back Malcolm Robinson (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) connected for a 77-yard score through the air (55-26, 0:26) for the Pioneers' fourth touchdown of the day, but Salisbury answered with a Dennis five-yard rush to open the fourth quarter (62-26, 13:38).

The Pioneers finished the scoring with a 17-yard pass from DiMarsico to Kersey with 5:44 remaining.
