More news about: DePauw

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior quarterback Matt Hunt threw four touchdown passes, ran for one more and totaled 417 yards of offense as the Tigers moved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a 66-17 victory over visiting Hiram. The Terriers dropped to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC. The 66 points were the most by a DePauw team since November 4, 1939, when they scored 74 against Franklin.

The Tigers wasted little time in getting on the board as Hunt tossed an 8-yard scoring pass to his brother, Andy, just 4:16 into the contest. Hiram countered with Sam Conway's 26-yard field which made it 7-3 with 7:53 left in the first.

DePauw then scored 28 straight as Ian Good and Hunt scored on runs of two and eight yards, respectively and Hunt tossed scoring passes of 14 yards to Ben Wilson and 31 yards to Andy Hunt, respectively.

Nic Paolo teamed with Joshua Philander for a 76-yard score with 2:14 remaining in the half before Hunt tossed a 28-yard pass to Ryan Grizzard to close out the first half scoring and give DePauw a 42-10 lead at the intermission.

After Hiram's Isaiah Jones scored on a 2-yard run on the Terriers' opening drive of the second half, DePauw rattled off 24 straight including a 34-yard field goal by Marko Adams and touchdown runs from Ian GoodRamon Lopez and Demarco Henry.

DePauw totaled 635 yards of offense which ranks third in school history and included 295 on the ground and 340 through the air. Hiram rushed for 59 yards on 41 carries against the nation's third-ranked rushing defense. The Terriers totaled 282 passing yards for 341 total yards.

Matt Hunt rushed for a team-high 92 yards on 11 carries, while Jason Kirchhoff added 91 yards on 10 tries. Hunt completed 31-of-45 passes for 325 yards, while Good led the way with eight catches and Andy Hunt added six. Matt Hunt's 417 total yards was the third-best single-game effort in school history.

Danny Robinson totaled 42 rushing yards for Hiram on 11 carries, while Nick Paolo completed 16-of-32 passes for 282 yards. Joshua Philander and Jacob Luc each caught four passes.

Will Longthorne led the DePauw defense with 13 tackles, while Nate Orrison paced the squad with 2.0 sacks for 17 yards in losses. The Tigers totaled 5.0 sacks and forced three fumbles.
Brand Gros led Hiram with 11 tackles and Kyle Burchett added 10.
