More news about: Beloit

Macalester College Scots (5-2, 4-1 MWC)
at Beloit College Buccaneers (3-4, 2-3 MWC)
Saturday, October 22, 2016, 1:00 p.m.
Strong Stadium, Beloit, Wis.

The Bucs look to maintain some momentum after snapping a three-game skid last Saturday at Ripon College as they host Macalester College on Take a Kid to the Game Day at Strong Stadium…

The Series: The Buccaneers and Scots are meeting for the 14th time in a series BC leads 8-5.  Macalester has won the last three meetings, in 2007, 2014 and 2015, though Beloit won all four meetings between 2002 and 2006.  The programs first met near the end of the 1952 season, a 40-0 Buccaneer win.  Beloit won the first four meetings, the first two with shutouts, before MC posted back-to-back wins in 1957 and '58 by a combined score of 47-8…

Bucs Most Recent Game:  Beloit needed a lift and got it from senior Mike Nolden, who caught three touchdown passes from Danny May, to lead the Buccaneers to a 24-14 win at Ripon College, snapping a three-game skid.  Kam Sallee got the Bucs on the board with under a minute left in the opening quarter with a 19-yard field goal.  Nolden caught his first TD pass from May, a 24-yarder, at the 10:04 mark of the second quarter to make it 10-0, the halftime score.  Nolden caught TD #2 from 33 yards away two minutes into the second half to make it 17-0 before Ripon got on the board at 7:12 of the third quarter on an eight-yard run.  But May hit Nolden with his third touchdown of the day, from 43 yards away, at 4:35 of the quarter to make it 24-7 entering the fourth.  Ripon had the lone score of the fourth quarter on a 12-yard run and then had their final drive stopped with 1:30 left on a Shayne Ellis interception.  May finished with 196 yards passing and 37 rushing.  Mason Dixon had 83 rushing yards on 21 carries.  On defense Brenden Endrina led the team with 12 tackles, seven solo, while Marcos Camacho had 10 tackles, six solo.

Bucs' Last Time vs. the Scots: Beloit fell behind early and couldn't make up the deficit in a 28-14 Midwest Conference North Division loss at Macalester College on October 17, 2015.  Half of the Bucs' first half drives ended with a turnover, three with a punt, and the last as the half ended.  The Macs got on the board twice in the opening quarter, on a 28-yard run at the 11:57 mark and a one-yard run at 7:18.  They added a three-yard run midway through the second quarter to lead 21-0 at the break.  The Buccaneers got on the board with 22 seconds left in the third quarter when Mason Dixon scored on a 25-yard run.  Macalester answered that score at 10:08 of the fourth quarter with a five-yard run.  Beloit closed the scoring with 2:48 remaining when Kam Sallee caught a seven-yard TD pass from Danny May.  The Bucs were held under 396 yards in total offense for the first time this season, getting 272, while the Macs had 438, 330 on the ground.  Dixon finished with 122 yards rushing on 20 carries.  May passed for 121 yards but was intercepted four times.  Sallee's four catches led the receivers while Nate Brault had a team-best 33 yards receiving.  Defensively Dewight Walker and Brenden Endrina both finished with 10 tackles while Juan Guerrero and Riley Pearson had nine apiece.  Pearson also recovered a fumble…

Notes & Notables:  Mike Nolden now has more touchdown receptions that any other receiver in Beloit history, surpassing Derek Carrier's (2008-11) record of 29 with his three TD catches at Ripon last Saturday, giving him 30.  Nolden also ranks third all-time in receptions (172) and receiving yards (2,386)…Kam Sallee added the Beloit point-afters made record to his made field goals mark with his three on Saturday.  He now has 101 point-afters, topping the record of Matt Laszlo (1988-91), who had 100…The Bucs' win at Ripon Saturday marked the first time since 2005 they had defeated the Red Hawks, snapping a string of 10 straight losses…

Up Ahead for the Bucs:  The Fighting Scots follow the Scots into Strong Stadium as Beloit celebrates Senior Day on October 29.  They then have a bye weekend before traveling to Illinois College on November 12 to close out the 2016 season…
