FINAL:              WORCESTER STATE 48, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Junior quarterback Noah Brum (Honolulu, Hawaii) completed 28-of-36 pass attempts for 364 yards and five touchdowns to lead Worcester State to a 48-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.

Brum connected on a pair of four-yard strikes to juniors Cam Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Dan Orlando (Westboro, Mass.) in the opening 15-plus minutes of play to stake the host Lancers (5-3, 4-2 MASCAC) to a 14-0 advantage, and he extended that margin to 21-0 with 5:34 remaining in the half on an 11-yard connection with sophomore Jacob Maher (Marshfield, Mass.).  Orlando's second touchdown reception of the day on a 24-yard toss from Brum with 63 seconds to play before intermission gave Worcester State a 27-0 edge at the break, and his final scoring strike of the day came with 2:36 remaining in the third stanza on a 30-yard connection with Maher.  The Lancers added an 11-yard pass from junior Mike Kadlick (Dedham, Mass.) to freshman Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.) with 8:42 remaining in the contest, and freshman Bryce Conroy's (Barnstable, Mass.) five-yard run with 3:40 to play accounted for the final margin.

Orlando, Maher, senior Connor Amann (Stamford, Conn.) and junior Kharif Pryor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) combined for 261 receiving yards for Worcester State, which amassed 479 yards of total offense on the day.  Senior Richie Phillips (Onset, Mass.) accounted for over two-third of the visiting Buccaneers' (1-7, 0-6 MASCAC) 240 yards of total offense with 135 rushing yards in posting his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the season and sixth of his career, as Massachusetts Maritime was held to just 35 passing yards on the afternoon.

Freshman Mike Quinn (Sutton, Mass.) registered 13 total tackles (six solo) to lead the way defensively for Worcester State, which received interceptions from seniors Bemnet Morgan (Springfield, Mass.) and Markiesh Harmon (Leominster, Mass.).  Sophomore Sean Smialek (South Dartmouth, Mass.) collected nine total stops (six solo) to lead the way defensively for the Buccaneers, who received six stops each from senior Alexander Ruddy (Mansfield, Mass.), sophomore Cameron Stewart (Uxbridge, Mass.) and freshman Nick Carpenter (Mashpee, Mass.).  The win snapped a two-game Lancer winless streak in the series, as Worcester State has won four of the last six outings from Massachusetts Maritime dating back to the 2012 season.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts UMass Dartmouth in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference clash next Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium that kicks off at Noon, while Worcester State heads to Bridgewater, Mass. next Saturday afternoon for a MASCAC match-up with Bridgewater State that also kicks off at Noon.
