Recap: Hartwick scored touchdowns on five of their first six possessions on Saturday on its way to a 49-24 victory over visiting Alfred State. Ronald Ballard (Deposit, NY/Deposit) ran for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns and Bryce Macina (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) connected with Dylan Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Iona Prep) for a 73-yard touchdown pass as the Hawks led 21-3 after 15 minutes. Touchdown runs from Davien Kuinlan (Bethpage, NY/Plainedge) and Ballard increased the margin to 35-3 at halftime. The Pioneers inched closer with two straight scores in the third quarter. The Hawks came back in the final quarter as Ballard scored on a 1-yard run and Macina hit Mucci for a 21-yard touchdown to put the game away.

 

Game Notes:

  • The Hawks outgained the Pioneers 522 to 423
  • 'Wick gained 321 through the air and 201 on the ground
  • Ballard finished the game with 151 yards rushing to go along with his four scores. He also caught four passes for 59 yards
  • Macina threw for 321 on 13-of-18 passing and two TDs
  • Mucci caught six passes for 207 yards and two TDs
  • The Hartwick defense registered 10 tackles for loss, including three sacks, and two interceptions
  • Ian Chavanne (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and Josh Wilcox (Ithaca, NY/Candor) led all players with nine tackles. Chavanne had two TFLs and Wilcox had a sack
