DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica football team scored touchdowns on four straight possessions in the second quarter en route to a 41-13 victory over Presentation College (S.D.) at Malosky Stadium on Saturday.

How it Happened
Both teams got out of the gate quick, reaching the end zone on each of their first possessions. The Saints got the ball first and unlike last week, converted third downs early, going 4-for-4 on the opening drive. It culminated on a Zach Edwards to Mitchell Adrian 18-yard TD connection to make it 7-0.

However, Presentation (0-3) answered quickly on its first possession going 70 yards in less than two minutes, which ended on a 14-yard TD run. However, the PAT would strike the upright to keep the Saints in front 7-6. The scoring would stall the rest of the quarter as neither team would be able to sustain drives.

CSS would get great field position in its first possession of the second quarter and took advantage when Edwards found Lavell Jackson for a 22-yard touchdown to make it 14-6. The game then opened up on a sequence of two plays. Presentation would attempt a 47-yard field on its next possession, but it would be well off the mark. On the very next play, Adrian busted up the gut and sprinted 70 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 21-6.

The St. Scholastica defense forced another Presentation three-and-out and the Saints responded with Edwards hitting Jackson for a 21-yard score to make it 28-6 with four minutes to go in the half.

After a fourth down stop, the Saints went 70 yards on five plays with Edwards targeting Reese Jansen for a 41-yard touchdown to make it 34-6 at the half.

Edwards threw his final touchdown of the day to freshman Dominic Klaas to make it 34 unanswered CSS points. Presentation added a score late to make the final 41-13.

Top Performers for the Saints
Edwards was 28-of-47 for 302 yards and five touchdowns on the day. In doing so, Edwards now holds the program record for career completions (476) and TD passes (67). It was also his 12th 300-yard passing game of his career. Adrian had another big week as well, recording 10 receptions for 68 yards and a score. He also had 80 yards rushing and a TD.

Eric Soderberg led the defense for the second straight week with 14 tackles. Chase Kleppe had nine tackles, including 2.5 for a loss. Fellow freshman Gabe Delmont had an interception.

Top Performers for the Opponents
Former Braham quarterback Hunter Giffrow started the game for Presentation and threw for 120 yards. He was replaced by Ta-Mario Tu, who threw for 78 yards. Trey Pajimula had 90 yards on the ground with one TD, while Preston Jones had five receptions for 61 yards.

Jerod Boswell led the defense with 10 tackles.
