BOX SCORE vs. Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football team held on for the 37-31 victory over the Loras College Duhawks on Saturday in the 12th Key City Clash on Saturday. UD lost the first three meetings and have won nine consecutive contests under the tutelage of head coach Stan Zweifel. The soggy weather didn't slow down the Spartan fans for homecoming, who packed pre-game festivities before the American Rivers Conference match-up.

UD scored first on homecoming and held a 23-17 halftime lead over the Duhawks. The Duhawks out scored UD in the third quarter 7-6 and UD added eight points in the final quarter and held the Duhawks to seven points to secure the victory. Sean Duffy completed 22-36 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Emanuel Jenkins led the receivers with six catches for 57 yards and two touchdown grabs. Cody Reimer caught four for 99 yards and a touchdown. Elliott Pipkin hauled in four catches for 28 yards. Kordell Stillmunkes rushed 27 times for 73 yards. He also had two kick returns for 17 yards. Jordan Labelle ran three kick returns back for 47 yards and had two catches for 42 yards.

The Spartans defense forced the Duhawks into committing four interceptions. Chad Marsh, Blaze Barista, Colton Pederson, and Markhus Taylor all finished with one interception. Marsh led UD with eight tackles as teammate Adam Steingraeber finished with seven.

UD (4-3 overall, 3-2 in A-R-C) will travel to face the Luther College Norse (0-6 overall, 0-4 in A-R-C) next week in Decorah at 1 p.m.

Since Dubuque played a key role in the early development of the state, Dubuque is often referred as "The Key City". The winner of the Key City Clash will proudly display the traveling trophy for the following year at their school. One side of the key is painted blue and white to represent the University of Dubuque while the other is painted in purple and gold for Loras College. The winner of the annual game gains possession of the "Key to the City". The wooden key presented to the winner each year is six feet in length.
