THE LEAD:
Sophomore signal caller Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) accounted for five touchdowns to lead visiting Dean College to a convincing 41-20 win over Anna Maria in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The win for the Bulldogs is their second straight and pushes them to the top of the conference standings – tied with next week's opponent, Gallaudet.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Watts capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run to give Dean an early 7-0 lead.
After the AMCATS answered with a short touchdown run of their own, the Bulldogs were back in the endzone late in the second quarter when Watts connected with Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.) from 14 yards out for that duo's first of three touchdowns on the day.
Now in front 13-7, Dean regained possession when Shannon Moxey (Austell, Ga.) registered his league-leading third interception. Watts promptly marched the Bulldogs 74 yards in nine plays capped by an eight-yard strike to Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) in the back corner of the endzone.
Anna Maria tried some trickery to start the second half, but their onside kickoff to start the third quarter was snuffed out and recovered by Matthew Blake (Atlanta, Ga.) at the Anna Maria 46. Three plays later and Watts hit Breaux for another score – this time from 28 yards out to give the Bulldogs a 27-7 edge.
The AMCATS next possession ended without a score and the Bulldogs were on the move again on their next possession, going 56 yards in ten plays as Saquan Kelly (Stamford, Conn.) barreled his way in from five yards out for his second career touchdown.
Dean's ensuing possession saw them score again, with the Bulldogs eating up nearly eight minutes off the clock converting a trio of third downs and then a fourth down when Watts and Breaux connected again from four yards early in the fourth quarter to make the score 41-14.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Watts was incredibly efficient under center, going 20-for-27 for 252 yards and a career-best four passing touchdowns to go along with his rushing score. His No. 1 target, Breaux, ended with 118 yards receiving on eight grabs – three of which went for scores.
Reid, meanwhile, had eight grabs for 85 yards and a score and Ki'sean Bullard (Miami, Fla.) ended with three catches for 42 yards.
Kelly had the best rushing performance of his career, totaling 93 yards on 21 carries.
For the second straight week, Desmond Dias (Rochester, Mass.) had a strong effort, registering a team-best nine tackles – two for loss and a sack.

Next Saturday sets up for a battle of the two first place teams as the Bulldogs head to Gallaudet for a meeting with the Bison in Washington, D.C. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM.
