The College of Wooster's Cole Hissong is a D3football.com and Associated Press Little All-American, as the senior tight end was selected to this year's second team by both organizations. D3football.com and the AP announced their respective 2021 All-America team prior to Friday's Stagg Bowl, NCAA Div. III's championship game.

The awards are two of many for the Fighting Scots' star tight end this fall. In the preseason, he was selected a second-team D3football.com Preseason All-American, and was named to College Football America Yearbook's Preseason Starting Lineup. During the season, the local native of Shreve, Ohio, was a three-time D3football.com Team of the Week selection. Leading up to Friday's announcement, Hissong earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference, first-team D3football.com All-Region 4 Team, and first-team College Football Network All-America honors. Earlier in his career, Hissong was a 2020 first-team D3football.com Preseason All-American, a 2019 second-team D3football.com All-North Region selection, and a 2019 first-team All-NCAC honoree.

This fall, Hissong broke Wooster's program record for career receiving touchdowns by a tight end with No. 14 against Allegheny College. He later logged his 15th career receiving touchdown during the Scots' 58-41 win over the Gators and finished the game with 103 yards on eight receptions. In fact, Hissong was one of three Scots to surpass 100 yards receiving against the Gators, marking the first time Wooster's had three 100-yard receivers in a game since 1997. Hissong was part of several other records in the Allegheny win, as Wooster senior quarterback Mateo Renteria set the single-game program records for completions (38), passing yards (506), and passing touchdowns (6). Renteria's completions and passing yards marked new single-game team program records as well.

Elsewhere, Hissong went for 114 yards on eight receptions at Ohio Wesleyan University and followed that up with 10 receptions, 119 yards, and a career-high three touchdowns versus DePauw University. The history and education major factored heavily into Wooster's 44-41 win at Wabash College with six receptions and 109 yards.

Hissong ranked second in the NCAC with nine touchdowns and third with 53 receptions. He led all NCAC tight ends in receptions, yards (760), and touchdowns, with all three categories also topping Wooster's team.

Hissong is Wooster's first D3football.com All-American since Brandon James in 2014. He is the program's first AP Little All-American since Rick Drushal in 2006.
