UW-Oshkosh survived its post-Brett Kasper season opener, while Brockport cruised past Hobart in Saturday's early Top 25 results.

Derrick Jennings intercepted three passes and had a sack and a half as Oshkosh defeated Carthage 20-9. The Red Men had taken a 9-7 lead in the fourth quarter despite losing their starting quarterback early in the game. Two Titans quarterbacks combined to complete 10 of 19 passes for just 39 yards. Mitch Gerhartz led the offense with 69 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Jennings' pick-six came on the final play of the game to turn a 14-9 score into a 20-9 final. 

Last year, Brockport surprised Hobart in Week 1 en route to a 13-0 start to the season. This year, the win wasn't a surprise, but the final margin was, as the No. 6 Golden Eagles rolled up a 42-0 halftime lead en route to a 56-7 victory. Joe Germinerio completed his first 16 passes and finished 24-for-27 passing for 343 yards in the win. Hobart, which only snapped the ball 47 times, finished with 5 rushing yards and 124 yards of total offense overall.

Top-ranked Mount Union limited Rose-Hulman to 107 yards of total offense, while D'Angelo Fulford and Josh Petruccelli each had more than that by themselves in the Purple Raiders' 54-0 win. One of the three quarterbacks for the Fightin' Engineers was 1-for-11 passing, while another was 3-for-6 for minus-3 yards.

Alex Peete ran for four touchdowns and Ryan Wisniewski caught four passes for 134 yards and a score as No. 12 UW-Whitewater opened the season with a 38-6 win at Dubuque. Ten players recorded tackles for loss for the Warhawks. Peete had 23 carries for 77 yards in the victory.

Jake Kennedy threw for three touchdowns and ran for the other as No. 14 Wittenberg defeated Westminster (Pa.) 34-21. The Tigers scored the first 20 points of the game and held off the Titans with 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Vinny Pallini had a 94-yard kickoff return on the first play of the season and No. 3-ranked St. Thomas defeated NAIA member Trinity International 76-0. Jackson Erdmann threw four touchdown passes to lead No. 11 St. John's past UW-Stout 27-0.

No. 18 Wheaton limited Monmouth to just two first downs and 54 yards of total offense as the Thunder shut down the Scots 32-7. After a short punt, Monmouth converted on a 23-yard drive to cut its deficit to 16-7 late in the first half, the Scots never had the ball across midfield again. Curtis McWilliams threw three interceptions but also threw for three scores while completing 22 of 41 passes.

Jacob Adams completed 13 of 20 passes for 286 yards and three scores as No. 15 Washington & Jefferson scored the first 23 points and cruised to a 37-12 win at St. John Fisher. Zac Quattrone intercepted two passes, while Zac Taylor broke up four passes and Zach Royba and Zack Queen combined for 11 tackles, but no sacks, in the win.

After Lebanon Valley scored on the opening drive of the game, No. 24 Franklin & Marshall scored the next 38 points and cruised to a 44-21 win vs. its area rival. Tanner Erisman was an efficient 15-for-20 passing for 288 yards and four touchdowns in the win while eight Diplomats registered tackles for loss. F&M controlled the ball for 37:09.

Rob Law scored two rushing touchdowns and another receiving, compiling 141 yards in total, to lead No. 25 RPI to a 40-19 victory over Allegheny in the first meeting between the two programs. Law carried the ball six times for 57 yards with scores of 30 and 14 yards. His first touchdown, which came on a sweep that he cut up the middle and ran untouched to the end zone, gave the Engineers a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter. His second, another sweep which he ran up the right side, made it a 13-3 lead with 8:57 left in the second quarter. As a receiver, Law had three catches for 84 yards, including a 71-yard score on a completion up the middle that answered an Allegheny score and put RPI ahead 33-16 with 12:32 left.
